Christmas In Cobh is an initiative of See You in Cobh and this is our seventh year of compiling the Events Guide.
This year we have again teamed up with Cobh Edition and our Events Guide is incorporated into the Cobh Edition Events, News and Info Guides which will be published on 1st December and 15th December. It will be available free of charge from most shops and retail outlets in Cobh.
Christmas in Cobh 2014 officially starts on Saturday, 6th December when Santa Claus arrives in Cobh. He will arrive into Cobh Railway station at 12.25 and make his way to his magical grotto in Cobh Heritage Centre. This is the seventh year that Santa has been arriving in Cobh and welcoming children to his grotto since See You in Cobh was formed following the Christmas in Cobh initiative in 2008. This year will be no exception and children can visit him from 1 pm to 4.30 pm for just €5 (accompanying parents are free!) and each child will receive a parcel.
Professional photographs, printed on the spot will also be available for €5. A free Arts and Crafts workshop will take place all afternoon in Cobh Heritage Centre where children can make and decorate their own lantern. At 5pm the Children’s torch lit procession will leave from the Heritage Centre to the Christmas tree, where the lights will be switched on. A performance by Cobh Confraternity Band will add plenty of Festive Cheer.
Following the switching on of the lights See You in Cobh is adding a Christmas Family Disco in Club C with entry costing only €5 per family.
Christmas in Cobh Christmas cards and Cobh Tidy Towns Calendars are now on sale in the Cathedral shop and other outlets and will also be on sale in Garvey’s Super Valu on Thursday, Friday and Saturday 27th, 28th & 29th November.
The Christmas in Cobh cards feature a beautiful snowy scene captured by Kieran Mackessy. The proceeds of the cards fund the wonderful welcoming Christmas Tree at Belvelly – the gateway to Great Island .
